Marilyn B. Manning

July 3, 1930 — November 19, 2025

Marilyn B. Manning, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on July 3, 1930, in Queens, New York, Marilyn was the cherished daughter of Raymond and Mae Brock.

Marilyn’s love story with her husband, Donald Patrick Manning, began on the BMT subway as they rode to work each morning. Introduced by Don’s friend Ralph to the Brock sisters, Don immediately noticed Marilyn’s beauty, warmth, and charm. Though shy, he found himself looking for her on the train each day. After reminding himself that “faint heart never won fair lady,” he nervously searched the phone book for her family name, stepped out to a pay phone so his mother wouldn’t overhear, and finally worked up the courage to ask her on a date. Marilyn said yes, and their first date—a cocktail at the Downtown Athletic Club—was the beginning of a lifelong partnership filled with love and devotion. They were married on July 6, 1963, at St. Matthias Church in Ridgewood.

Marilyn was a dedicated homemaker and a wonderful mother to their two children, Daniel and Susan. She nurtured them with wisdom, warmth, and gentle guidance. She believed in the importance of the outdoors, often bringing her children to the beach or the pool and instilling in them her deep love and appreciation for the water.

A talented and expressive woman, Marilyn had a beautiful singing voice, loved to dance, and played the piano with grace. She found joy in gardening and planting flowers, and she possessed a natural eye for landscaping that made every space she touched more beautiful. She adored Montauk and was happiest by the ocean, surrounded by sunshine and sea air.

Marilyn was known for her friendly, social nature—she was a “party girl” in the most joyful sense, a true social butterfly whose warmth brought people together. She helped bring Don out of his shell and complimented him in every way. Her faith as a Roman Catholic was an anchor throughout her life.

Above all, Marilyn cherished her family. She was a devoted Nana who adored her grandchildren and took great pride in each of them.

Marilyn is predeceased by her parents and her sister, Joan. She is survived by her loving husband, Don; her devoted children, Daniel (Jennifer) and Susan (Douglas); and her treasured grandchildren, Olivia, Charlie, Jimmy, Lauren, and Michael.

Marilyn’s kindness, spirit, and love of life will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marilyn's honor to either Winters Center for Autism or The INN.
