Lorenzo Sanchez, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and generous soul, passed away peacefully on April 28th, 2025, at the age of 89.
Born in Santiago, Cuba, Lorenzo built a life rooted in hard work, humility, and love. From an early age, he believed in the power of perseverance and took great pride in being a provider for his family. His hands told the story of a lifetime of dedication—not only to his work but also to those he cared for most.
Lorenzo found his greatest joy in the company of his family, especially during sunny days spent together at the beach. With a warm sense of humor and a quick wit, he loved cracking jokes with friends and was always the one to bring a smile to the room. Beyond family and friends, Lorenzo gave freely of his time to those in need, often volunteering with the elderly and the underprivileged—quiet acts of kindness that defined his character.
He is preceded in death by his beloved son, Lorencito, whose memory he carried with him every day. Lorenzo is survived by his loving wife, Juana, and their devoted daughter Maria. He was a proud and playful “Wayo” to his cherished grandchildren: Richard Joseph Laconi, Michelle Marie Vila, Natalia Vila, Charlie Laconi, Alessandra Vila, and Giovanni Vila.
A funeral service honoring Lorenzo’s life will be held on Friday, May 2nd at 10:00 AM at Whitting Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. Charles Cemetery.
Lorenzo's legacy of love, laughter, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
