“Kevin “Rusty” Roth, of Sea Cliff, New York, passed away on December 8, 2025. Born on July 8, 1968, in Brooklyn, NY to Lawrence and Marilyn Roth, Kevin was a man whose warmth, humor, and generosity touched everyone around him.
Kevin is survived by the love of his life, Laura; their cherished children, James and Kristen; his loving parents, Lynn and Larry; his beloved sister, Keri (Joe) Davide; his beloved in-laws; father in law, Sam Tortora and his brothers-in-law Steve (Barbara) Tortora, and sisters-in-law, Linda (Lou) Manzione, Maria (Chris) Buniva, Diana (Richie) Huber and his nephews, (Keri) Joey and Matthew, (Steve) Emily and Daniel, (Linda) Matthew, Michael and John, (Maria) Nicholas and Lauren, all of whom adored him.
Kevin and Laura’s story began when they were teenagers, working side by side at Key Food. She was drawn to his smile and the way he could make anyone laugh. They were married in August 1993 and built a life rich with love and laughter. As a father, Kevin was exceptional. He always provided them with support and guidance. Whether taking the kids to Hershey Park, exploring the outdoors, or teaching them how to catch dinner, he created memories that they will carry forever.
Kevin was immensely proud to be a firefighter with the FDNY, a calling that truly became part of who he was. He joined the department in August 1990, earned the rank of Lieutenant in 2013, and proudly became Captain in 2020. On 9/11, he rose with courage and determination, and that brave, selfless moment lives forever in the hearts of his family. Kevin’s generosity extended far beyond his job. He was proudly involved with the Fight for Firefighters Foundation, which builds accessibility ramps for firefighters and their families. He was always eager to help the FDNY families.
Outside of work, Kevin found joy in the outdoors. He loved hiking, skiing, and heading miles out onto the water to fish.
Kevin had a personality that filled every room he entered. He loved his Irish roots, and with a Guinness in hand, he had a way of getting everyone to join in the song. His presence brought warmth, humor, and heart to those around him.
Kevin will be profoundly missed by his family, his many friends, his FDNY brothers and sisters, and all who were lucky enough to know him. His legacy of kindness, service, and joy will live on in every story told, every laugh shared, and every memory he lovingly created.”
