Kenneth E. Moore

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, the family of Kenneth E. Moore of Glen Cove announces his passing on October 24, 2025. Kenneth was born on February 23, 1933, in Glen Cove, New York, to John and Isabell Moore. He was predeceased by his beloved parents and sisters — Mary, Pat, Francis, and Grace — and is now reunited with them.

He leaves behind the love of his life, his devoted wife of 69 wonderful years, Beverly, and their cherished children, Stephen (Marina), Margaret (Chris), David (Alexandra), and Amy (Patrick). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Jacqueline, Laura, James, Erin, and David, each of whom brought him endless joy and laughter.

Kenneth proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Not long after returning home, fate stepped in when a friend introduced him to Beverly at Henry’s in Glen Cove. She still remembers how his warm smile lit up the room — and from that moment, they were inseparable. What began as a chance meeting grew into nearly seven decades of love, partnership, and family.

A true man of service, Kenneth dedicated much of his life to helping others. He spent many proud years as a member of the Glen Cove Police Department. Even after retiring, he couldn’t sit still — he continued to serve his community as a school bus driver, security guard at Manhasset Hospital, bartender at the Harrison House, and a crossing guard, just to name a few of his endeavors. He was a man who simply loved being useful, always lending a helping hand wherever it was needed.

Kenneth’s life was built on hard work, love, and laughter. He worked tirelessly to make sure his family was cared for, and he believed that time spent together was life’s greatest treasure. Every year, no matter what, he made sure the family went on a vacation — sometimes near, sometimes far — from camping trips to beach getaways. Those adventures were sometimes chaotic but always full of laughter and love, and they remain among his family’s most treasured memories.

Kenneth never needed to be strict — his example spoke louder than words. His kindness, integrity, and sense of humor filled every room he entered. He was the kind of man who would truly give you the shirt off his back, and who could make you laugh even on your hardest days. His quick wit and love for “dad jokes” were a family trademark.

He was also a man of many passions — a proud member of the Glenwood Fire Department, the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, the VFW, and the Matinecock Rod & Gun Club. He loved to bowl and play darts, and he found joy in creative hobbies, including building and decorating ornate dollhouses. He loved to cook, particularly for the fire department and his hunting buddies, and each year, the family kitchen turned into a lively bakery as they made dozens of loaves of his “famous” Irish Soda Bread for family and friends.

Above all else, Kenneth was a family man through and through. He was loving, dependable, and always home in time for dinner. His life was defined by love — for his wife, his children, his grandchildren, and his community. His warmth, humor, and quiet strength touched every life he encountered.

Kenneth will be remembered not only for all he accomplished, but for the kind and gentle way he lived his life. His love and legacy will live on forever in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
