It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Karin Margaret Alatzas on October 24, 2024, at the age of 69.
Karin was born on March 6, 1955, in Mary Immaculate Hospital in Jamaica, Queens, to Robert (Bob) and Margaret (Peg) Murphy.
She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, George, and their two cherished sons, Angelo and Robert "Bobby"; her sister, Patricia; brothers-in-law Brian, Manny, Constantine and Doric; sister-in-law Ariadne; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Karin’s dedication to her family was unwavering. She found immense joy in nurturing and supporting her loved ones.
Known for her warm hospitality, Karin took great pride in her holiday traditions. She adorned her home with festive decorations and delighted her family with her delicious, time-honored recipes.
Her deep faith was evident in her daily life. She generously served her church community by baking Prosphora.
A talented seamstress, Karin created beautiful, handmade quilts, each stitch a testament to her love and creativity.
Karin was predeceased by her parents, Bob and Peg, and her sister, Maureen Murphy Doherty.
Karin’s warmth, kindness, wit, and selfless spirit will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church (107 Clinton St., Schenectady, NY 12305), reflecting Karin’s caring nature and commitment to helping others.
