John Gerald Sweeney

John (Jack) Sweeney, of Glen Head, passed away suddenly on February 27, 2026. A dedicated public servant, Jack was a retired officer of the Nassau County Police Department where he proudly served in the 6th Precinct.

Jack was the devoted husband to his late wife, Mary Ann Sweeney. He was the beloved father of Karen Sweeney (Joseph DeMerit) and Kate Giovannini (Ben Giovannini), and the cherished grandfather to Agnes, Bernadette, Lucian, Emmett, and Miles. He also leaves behind many dear friends and extended family members who will miss him greatly.

Jack was known for always keeping himself busy with many jobs, but always made sure to slow down during the summer months. He enjoyed the beach, a glass of wine and a cigar on the porch of our getaway in the Hamptons.
