James J O’Donnell Jr. was a lifelong resident of Sea Cliff for 88 years and passed away on January 9, 2026. His involvement in the community was longstanding, and his contributions were notable across several decades. His legacy is reflected in both professional and volunteer efforts within the village.
James operated a paving company with his father for a number of years, assisting in the development and maintenance of Sea Cliff’s infrastructure. He later served as Foreman for the Sea Cliff Department of Public Works, a position he held until retirement, known for dedication and reliability in fulfilling his responsibilities.
Jimmy served in the US Army Reserves and dedicated over 67 years to the Sea Cliff Fire Department, exemplifying his commitment to public service.
He also managed and coached the Sea Cliff Little League for more than ten years and volunteered with various organizations and community projects.
James contributed time and effort to St. Boniface Church, assisting in the care of the church grounds and supporting parish activities over many years.
James is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Alice; three sons and their spouses—James and Marina, Sean and Jeanne Marie, Timothy and Stacey; his grandchildren—Brian and his wife Karli, Katelyn and her husband Leo, Jack, Dillon, Shane, Matthew, and Madison and his great-granddaughter, McKenna. His dedication to family and community remains evident through those connections.
