Irene Lupton

Irene Lupton (nee Pietras) of Oyster Bay (formerly of Little Neck, East Norwich and Glen Head) passed away peacefully on the morning of 1/11/2026 at the age of 98. She was preceded in death by her husband George and all of her siblings (Mary Stoff, Harry Pietras, Stanley Pietras, Jenny Kotak, Dorothy Mulligan, Regina Leek and Tess Bondar). She was a loving wife and devoted sister. She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews (and well as their grandchildren and great grandchildren).

Irene loved to read novels, loved cats and was a wonderful cook and baker who also liked to knit and crochet. She loved her family and rarely missed a family event (attending showers, christenings and graduations well into her 90s). Family could always depend on her for a sympathetic ear in times of distress.

Visitation is Fri Jan 16 (2-4 and 7-9) at Whitting Funeral Home in Glen Head. A mass will be held on Sat Jan 17 (10 am) at St. Mary’s in Roslyn, followed by a burial at Roslyn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Northwell Foundation (please specify your donation is for Glen Cove Hospice). Irene was cared for by hospice in the last weeks of her life and her family is grateful for the excellent care she received.
