Henri Clermont

Henri Clermont, age 89, of Jackson Heights, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026.

Born on January 6, 1937, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Henri was the beloved son of Juanita and Henri Clermont. In 1958, at the age of 21, he immigrated to the United States, courageously fleeing the Duvalier dictatorship to build a new life. Upon arriving in New York, he enrolled in night classes to learn English, a pivotal step that led him to meet his future wife, Rita, who was his teacher.

Henri went on to graduate from Fordham University, paving the way for a successful and dedicated career as a systems analyst. He proudly served his community and profession through his work for both the City of New York and The New York Times.Henri’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his wife, Rita, his daughter Bettina, his son-in-law Andre, his four cherished grandchildren, Layla, Serena, Cecilia, and Blaise, as well as his brother Serge.
