Claude Martineau, 92, of Sea Cliff, passed away on July 22, 2026. He was born in Jeremie, Haiti, studied at l'Academie Militaire in Port-au-Prince, and was a Captain in the army. In 1963, under threat of persecution by the brutal Duvalier dictatorship, Claude and his beloved wife, Liliane, sought and received permission from the United States Embassy in Haiti to quickly depart for the United States. They were welcomed by family in New York.
Claude spent the rest of his years working hard and happily raising his family in Queens and later Long Island. He was an avid reader and history buff and had an incredible memory for people, events, and dates. He will be lovingly remembered for his kindness, warm smile, quiet strength, unshakeable faith, and most of all, for his unending love and devotion to his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Liliane, his cherished children, Ronald and Beatrice, his beloved son-in-law, Noah Blumenthal, and his treasured granddaughters, Sophie and Ella Blumenthal, whom he adored.
