Celia Jean Gallo, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished member of the Glen Cove community, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025, at the age of 98.
Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Celia eventually made her home in Glen Cove, where she built a life filled with love, faith, and service alongside her beloved husband, Anthony, who preceded her in death. Together, they raised a family grounded in warmth, generosity, and strong values.
Celia’s life was one of quiet devotion and simple joys. She was happiest when surrounded by family or busy in the kitchen, baking something sweet to share with friends and loved ones. She loved crocheting, solving puzzles, and giving back to her community. Celia was a longtime volunteer at St. Patrick’s Thrift Store and an active member of the Glen Cove Senior Center, where she formed many cherished friendships over the years.
Celia is lovingly remembered by her children: James (Marie) Gallo, Rosemary (Francis) McGuire, Diane Gallo (Dave), and Thomas Gallo. She leaves behind her adored grandchildren: Sean (Elizabeth) McGuire, Heidi (Michael) Lantier, Timothy (Elyse) McGuire, Matthew (Jessie) Cusack, Danielle Foster, Jonathan (Karyn) Troffa, and Melissa Troffa. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Alyx, Joseph, Abbey, James, Kevin, Anthony, Emma, Ruth, Michael, Luca, Jonathan, Mackenzie, and Alexandra.
