It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Carroll Adelaide Banta, aged 84, of Glen Head, New York. Born on August 29, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York, Carroll peacefully departed this life on April 28, 2026.

A devoted educator for 35 years, Carroll made significant contributions to the Bellmore Merrick School District, where she served with dedication as a middle school and high school social studies teacher. Her commitment to excellence culminated in her role as the social studies department chair at Calhoun High School. Carroll received her Bachelor’s degree from Manhattanville University and earned her Master’s degree from Harvard University, reflecting her lifelong commitment to education and personal growth.

Carroll's passion for learning extended beyond the classroom. She was an avid reader, a history buff, and a devoted fan of science fiction, particularly the Star Trek franchise. Her love for knowledge and exploration was matched only by her unwavering dedication to her family and community.

A longstanding member of St. Mary's Parish in Roslyn, Carroll actively participated in numerous church activities. She cherished her roles as an altar server, a Eucharistic minister, and a lector, exemplifying her commitment to her faith.

Carroll is survived by her beloved husband, Francis Banta, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage, and her brother, George Bolen. Together, they created a warm and loving home filled with shared interests and support.

In honor of her life and legacy, funeral services will be held on May 5, 2026. A memorial visitation will take place at Whitting Funeral Home from 9:00 AM- 10:00 AM, followed by a Memorial Mass at St. Mary's Church in Roslyn at 10:30 AM. Carroll will be laid to rest at the Cemetery of the Holy Rood at 12:00 PM. 

Carroll's remarkable life touched the hearts of many, leaving behind a legacy of love, commitment, and inspiration. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
