Carole died peacefully at her cherished childhood home in Sea Cliff, which her grandfather had built in the 1940s, overlooking the Sound.
Carole is survived by her husband and childhood sweetheart, Bill Thompson, with whom she was married for 68 years. She was a beloved daughter of Anna and William Martin and dear sister to Joan Martin Violante. Carole was a devoted mother to Bethanne (Gerard Rieger), William, and Stephen (Deborah), and loving grandmother to Max, Jackson (Tess), Tyler, Kyra, Rachel, and Emily.
Carole truly was treasured as a dedicated wife, mother, friend, and colleague. She worked at Long Island University for over two decades and was a member of Saint Luke's Episcopal Church, where she was married.
Carole will be remembered as a bright light, always helping others with her boundless generosity, acceptance, and friendship. She will be dearly missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Carole’s memory to Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church of Sea Cliff.
