Carmen Lopez, of Glen Cove, NY passed away peacefully on February 12th, 2026 at the age of 85.
Carmen was born in Aguadilla, PR to Providencia and Ramon Rosado on November 17, 1940. She moved to Manhattan at the age of 13 with her parents and 5 siblings Ramonita, Luis, Ralph, Hilda and Judy,
In 1959 she graduated from Morris, HS in the Bronx, NY. While a junior in High School, Carmen met her husband Albert Lopez at his going away party for his enlistment into the US Navy. She had agreed to be his pen pal while he was away on active duty and from there their love story began. When he returned from the service they began dating and soon after got married on May 27, 1962. They went on to have 3 children, Daniel, Christopher and Jeanette.
Shortly after raising her 3 children, Carmen began working as a Bookkeeper in Manhattan. She retired as a Full-charge Bookkeeper for Alper Management, a commercial Real Estate company in NYC in 1997.
Carmen was loved by many. She was the type of woman that the saying “to know her is to love her” held that true meaning. She was a kind & gentle loving soul whom many often leaned on for support and encouragement. She was easy to talk to and gave great advice. Her caring nature just came natural to her, and she would selflessly give her time to be there for anyone in need.
Carmen was most loved and cherished by her husband, children and large close-knit family. All of whom will all miss her deeply but will hold dear all the wonderful loving memories she gave to all.
Carmen was predeceased by her beloved brother Luis Rosado and beloved sister Ramonita Irizarry.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Albert Lopez; her loving children, Daniel Lopez, Christopher Lopez, and Jeanette Lanksbury. She also leaves behind her cherished great-granddaughter, Rebekah Rivera; her beloved grandchildren, Alex Lanksbury, Brittany Lopez-Bonilla, Jack Lopez, and Abigail Lopez; and her siblings, Ralph Rosado, Hilda Tyburczy, and Judy Vigouroux.
