Beverly Vander Poel Banker

October 26, 1942 — June 16, 2025

BANKER, Beverly, 82, of Glen Cove, NY, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on June 16, 2025, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She was predeceased by her husband, Bindy, of 44 years and is survived by her four children: Chip Day, Billings Cay (John), Kingsley Gregory (Stuart) and Ashley Banker (Pablo); her granddaughter, Tate Smith; her siblings: Hawley Vander Poel (Janice), Linda Duryea (the late Jay Duryea), Susan Barrett and Ken Vander Poel (Barbara); her stepchildren: Ritchey Howe (David), Robbie Banker and the late Moby Banker, and six step grandchildren: Ritchey, Campbell, Gardner, John, Grayson and Katie.

Bea served as a trustee for North Shore-LIJ and Glen Cove Hospital for over twenty-five years. She founded the Glen Cove Hospital Advisory Council in 1999 and served as co-chair until her passing. She was the first female fire commissioner in New York State serving as Locust Valley’s Fire Commissioner for over eight years and was Chairman of the Zoning Board for the Village of Matinecock for twenty years. She felt very fortunate to give back to the community that she called home for her 82 years.

Service will be held Wednesday, June 25th at 11AM at St. John’s of Lattingtown, 325 Lattingtown Road, Locust Valley, NY 11560.
