Bernard Michael McCormack

Bernard “Sonny” Michael McCormack, devoted husband of Irene for nearly 56 years, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and the sound of his favorite Irish songs.

Raised in Locust Valley, Bernie lived in Sea Cliff for more than 50 years. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, worked as a truck driver, and later became foreman for the Village of Sea Cliff Department of Public Works.

Bernie took great pride in his home and yard, enjoyed traveling, and cherished his Irish heritage. He and Irene built a loving family life in Sea Cliff, where they raised their daughters, Noreen and Erin.

Bernie is survived by Irene; children Sandra (William), John, Kerry, Noreen (Leo), and Erin; sister Patricia Duffy (late James); grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and relatives throughout England and Ireland. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Michael and Mary.

Bernie will be remembered for his loyalty, hard work, sense of humor, Irish spirit, and the many stories that will continue to be shared by his family, friends, and neighbors who will miss him dearly.

The family extends heartfelt appreciation to St. Francis Hospital for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sea Cliff Volunteer Fire Department or St. Francis Hospital – Patient Experience Program.
