Anne Cooney

Anne M. Cooney passed away peacefully at her home in Greenvale, NY on July 5, 2026. Born on March 12, 1926, in Glen Cove, NY, Anne was the youngest daughter of Sylvester J. and Edith O’Brien Murray. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Colin B. Cooney; her parents; her brothers, Lester Murray and his wife, Maryrose, and Paul Murray and his wife, Wilma; her sisters, Edith DeLisle and her husband, Leo, and Ruth Curley and her husband, Jack; and her dearly loved son, William Gerlich.

Anne will be remembered lovingly by her daughters, Lisa Barrett and her husband, John, of Greenvale, and Sandy Kennedy and her husband, Joe, of North Carolina; her daughter-in-law, Pamela Gerlich, of New Hampshire; her grandsons, Charles Miller and Colin Miller; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Anne at Whitting’s Funeral Home, 300 Glen Cove Avenue, Glen Head, on July 10 from 5 to 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Boniface RC Church, 145 Glen Avenue, Sea Cliff, on July 11 at 11 a.m., with interment to follow at Locust Valley Cemetery.
